All of your teeth play an important role in speaking, chewing, and in maintaining proper alignment of other teeth. Fortunately, there are options for correcting tooth loss to maintain proper function of your mouth. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth, or teeth, and consists of an artificial tooth attached to adjacent natural teeth. A pontic (false tooth) replaces the lost tooth, while the adjacent teeth next to the space are crowned. Bridges can be constructed with porcelain or metal or a combination of both. During treatment planning we will discuss which material is best suited for your particular needs. A strict regimen of brushing and flossing will keep your bridge and surrounding teeth clean; cleaning is of critical importance, as the bridge relies on the neighboring teeth for support.
